I met a woman the other week that told me how it is really hard to give God the hard parts of her life. It feels like too much or a bother for Him to bear. Have you ever felt like that? At moments our journey and choices can easily overwhelm us.
May Dobbins was in a similar place, she grew up feeling rejected, bullied, insecure about where her worth and value came from. Her view of God as a child was one who only judged and there was a disconnect to her personal faith. Seeking worth and love, she found herself with three children at 21, and the pain of going through multiple abortions. However, God took all the hard and broken parts of her life and met her in a miraculous way at a moment when she thought it all was over.
May talks about wanting to take her own life in this episode. So if that is triggering for you or if you have little ears you can skip past *Discussion of Suicide 13:05 - 14:44.* Grateful May's story is now able to help her understand and come alongside women who are marginalized and feel like they don't have a place to be seen and loved.
If you are suffering through the shame of your past or a tough season, I encourage you to talk to a safe friend or a trusted counselor and continue to hold on to God who sees you as his beloved daughter. And know that HE May and you this promise as well.
“Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame.
Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated.
You will forget the shame of your youth
and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.
For your Maker is your husband—
the Lord Almighty is his name—
the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
he is called the God of all the earth.
The Lord will call you back
as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit—
a wife who married young,
only to be rejected,”
Isaiah 54:4-6 NIV
