Borrowed Hope with Diana Martinez #60

At one time Diana Martinez found herself alone, wondering if her story related with others. Diana took a big step and decided to attend a Baton Pass event. That day this single mom, living out her sobriety heard something there that unleashed her own story. This moment continued to allow Diana the opportunity to break off the chains of shame and turn off those old voices that have been on repeat for so long in her thoughts.

Diana's life still has its ups and downs, yet God is evident throughout her whole life. She believes when it is challenging she is able to borrow hope from other's stories, when she can't believe it for herself. Diana shares that living out of a place of honesty isn't always easy. However, in community there are friends who challenge and point each of us back to Jesus.

If we want different, you have to do different. And it is going to be uncomfortable. - Diana Martinez

Sharing first, inviting someone to coffee or attending an event, can be scary. It is uneasy for some of us to put ourselves out there. But just like Diana said, you have to get out of the car. The Baton Pass does an amazing job of creating a safe space to hear, be encouraged and walk away renewed. Join Diana, Kelly and myself at this next event to hear hope! Be empowered by the stories of each of our brave speakers sharing the message: There’s More to My Story, therefore There’s MORE to YOUR Story. We are making room at the table for you.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you be vulnerable this week? In doing so, you are able to unleash your own story?

  2. Who is someone you have borrowed hope from in this season or in the past? Why was that so transformative for you?
