The Scent of God with Danielle Zapchenk #158

Feeling a bit congested in your relationship with God? Today I would love to share one of my recent messages from our home church. We are walking through a series called "Sensing God" and I really jumped wholeheartedly into smell.  Please enjoy this message wherever it may find you today.

Sermon Notes

Do you think it is possible to sense God's presence through smell, and if so, are you embodying the aroma of His presence in your life?

Yet I am so thankful to God, who always marches us to victory under the banner of the Anointed One; and through us He spreads the beautiful fragrance of His knowledge to every corner of the earth. 2 Corinthians 2:14 The Voice

Longevity - lasting scent

Sillage - How far a scent travels

Complexity - layered notes

Be strong and courageous. Never be afraid or discouraged because I am your God, the Eternal One, and I will remain with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

In a turbulent world where people are either dying or being rescued, we are the sweet smell of the Anointed to God our Father. To those who are dying, they smell the stench of death in us. And to those being rescued, we are the unmistakable scent of life. Who is worthy of this calling? 2 Corinthians 2:15-16 The Voice

When we embody Jesus we are the unmistakable scent of life worthy of his calling?

Reflection Questions

  1. If you had to smell the aroma of your life, what do you feel like it smells like on your best day and on your worst day.

2. What one scent to use to ground your time or connect with Jesus. That way when you smell it, you are reminded of  him.
